Quick question – what’s the biggest worry new freshmen have before starting their first college semester?
- How am I going to afford my education?
- What can I do to be a successful student?
- Will I be able to fit in at college?
- Am I overlooking anything?
You know the real answer: all of the above. We understand; we’ve been there. And because we understand the natural nervousness college students and their parents, spouses, and families can have, this summer we’re trying something new.
Our New Student Orientation this July will be geared to getting our incoming Fall 2017 students ready to hit the ground running. This in-person, on-campus orientation will be critical to set up our freshmen for a successful year, get the finances for college settled, and understanding how to navigate the world of a college student.
Beyond this, we know that college success is very much a team effort. In that spirit, parents, spouses and VIPs are more than welcome to accompany their new student as well. We’ll have presentation, workshops, and interaction with advisors, counselors, financial aid officers, and tours of Northland so students can see exactly where they’ll be learning come August 21, our first day of school. There will also be time to talk and meet one-on-one with college staff, if students wish for more personal face to face time with their academic advisor.
In East Grand Forks, save the date of Friday, July 21 and in Thief River Falls, the date of Friday, July 28. Each campus orientation session is filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Be sure to register as soon as possible to ensure your spot. Reserve the date and Register now!
